Margot Friedman, J.D.

Margot Friedman is the principal of Dupont Circle Communications, a full-service communications firm founded in 2004 specializing in writing opinion editorials for nonprofit organizations.

Margot has assisted authors with opinion editorials that were published in The New York Times, The Washington Post, USA Today, The Los Angeles Times, The Boston Globe, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, TIME, Newsweek’s “My Turn,” CNN Opinion, Politico, The Hill, National Law Journal, and many other outlets.

Margot leads workshops on opinion editorial writing. She has presented at The American Psychological Association, National Council of Jewish Women, The Meyer Foundation, World Organization for Human Rights, Results: The Power to End Poverty, Netroots Nation, Georgetown University Law Center, American University, and other venues.

Margot’s clients include Death Penalty Information Center, NAACP Legal Defense Fund, EMILY’s List, Faith in Action (formerly PICO National Network), and other leading advocacy organizations.

She is a co-founding steering committee member of Progressive Communicators of Washington, D.C., which provides professional development opportunities for approximately 2,000 members.

Previously, as Vice President for Communications at National Women’s Law Center, Margot led the outreach efforts for an annual, state-by-state Women’s Health Report Card, a coalition that defeated President Bush’s attempt to gut Title IX, and the 350-member Fair Taxes for All Coalition, which was credited with reducing the size of the Bush tax cuts.

She also served as Deputy Director of Media Relations at People For the American Way and campaign coordinator for the first marriage equality referendum in the United States.

Margot graduated with honors from Boston College Law School and Tufts University. She is a native of Washington, D.C.
